Katie MaclaskeyKatie Stenhouse - Owner

Katie Stenhouse is the owner & trainer of Happy Valley Adventure Boot Camp, & is an avid fitness & nutrition enthusiast.  Her love of sports & the outdoors began on the slopes of Mt. Hood at the tender age of 5, where she was proudly known on the mountain as a “Powder Pig!”  Growing up in Portland, Katie’s love of sports grew to include volleyball, basketball, snowboarding & wakeboarding, all of which she pursued throughout her high school career. 

In search of a new adventure, Katie moved to California at the age of 20 to pursue two of her greatest passions: fitness & fashion.  After managing & owning her own boutique in La Quinta, CA called “Divas of the Desert,” Katie realized that, while she loved fashion, her greatest passion was in fact for fitness & nutrition.  At this point, she became an NFPT (National Federation of Personal Trainers) Certified Personal Trainer, & began training clients at her local gym, where she gained her Gravity Training Certification as well.  In 2009, she started her own successful boot camp on the bay in San Diego, CA. This is when she fell in love with the group fitness concept & training people outside in the fresh air!  Seeing how well her clients responded to the format, she found that everyone LOOKED FORWARD to working out together, making it not just about working out, but about being together & being outside. 

 Moving back to her hometown of Portland in 2011, Katie intends to bring this type of fun, outdoor workout to the women of Lake Oswego with her own Adventure Boot Camp, on the shores of the Willamette River. A year later she moved to the east side to open her Happy Valley location. In addition to being a Certified Personal Trainer, Katie is also a Nutrition Consultant, believing that good nutrition is fundamental to a healthy lifestyle.  Katie is dedicated to continual education in all things health & fitness-related, and brings her unique enthusiasm for this field to her clients with fun, safe, & challenging workouts.  To end in Katie’s own words:  “I can’t wait to meet you & help you  achieve your goals for a fit & healthy lifestyle - this is my passion, & I hope it will become yours too!”

Chelsea Amato is the owner/instructor of Lake Oswego Adventure Bootcamp. Born and raised in Lake Oswego, Chelsea grew up playing sports and enjoying group dance and fitness classes. In   her early 20's she fell in love with running and hiking outdoors. Looking for more exciting outdoor workouts she met Katie Maclaskey and Noelle Bertram (previous owner of LO Bootcamp) and found a new obsession in Bootcamp. She finds  that group fitness has helped motivate her and helps her reach her fitness goals in a supportive, fun, challenging environment. She is passionate about helping others reach their fitness goals and encouraging them to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Chelsea is a certified BeachBody coach and a trained PiYo Live instructor. She has a group fitness/ Bootcamp certification through ASFA (American sports and fitness association). Not only does she love to challenge herself, she is dedicated in challenging others and keeping her Bootcamp positive, fun, and a non intimidating environment no matter what your fitness leave is.

Dr. John Spencer Ellis - Support Staff

John is the President of NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association) and the Spencer Institute for Life Coaching. These two professional associations have 45,000 members in 30 countries. John is on the Advisory Boards of the National Health, Wellness and Prevention Congress, Exercise TV, Conference for Healthy Living, Irvine Valley College, Get America Fit Foundation, and is a Fellow of the National Board of Fitness Examiners. He is the author of "How Badly Do You Want It? - Your Ultimate Guide to Optimal Fitness," and a contributor to "Power of Champions." He created Adventure Boot Camp, the largest fitness boot camp program in the world. His signature series of outdoor fitness equipment is used in communities worldwide. John has been featured or quoted in every major fitness publication, and held the post of Fitness Editor for OC Flair magazine. John has been featured on NBC, CBS, PBS, SPIKE, ESPN & Bravo. He serves as an on-air expert for Life & Leisure Television and Health Journal Television with General Norman Schwarzkopf. He is the producer and host of The OC Body on The Healthy Living Channel. John is a Nautilus sponsored athlete and stars in the workout DVDs Playground Boot Camp™ & Kung-Fu Fitness™. John created the fitness program used by the U.S. Secret Service and he consults the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships).

John has been continuing his professional education since 1987, and holds bachelors degrees in business and health science, an MBA, and a doctorate in education. He is currently completing a second doctorate in naturopathy. He has fifteen certifications including massage therapy, plyometrics, self-defense, fitness kick boxing, fitness boxing, water fitness, exercise rehabilitation, golf conditioning, Pilates, personal training, clinical hypnotherapy, sports hypnosis, PACE circuit training and yoga. He holds a 2nd degree black belt in kung-fu, has completed the Ironman triathlon, and finished 5th at the U.S. National Biathlon Championships. His medical training includes a license in radiological technology, a medical assisting certification, and training in McKenzie rehabilitation. John was nominated for the California Community College Distinguished Alumni Award.
